Do I need any prior experience?

No experience is required. This course is designed for beginners as well as those with some woodworking knowledge. Our instructors will guide you step by step.

What will we build during the course?

Together, the group will construct a 12x16 timber frame shed using traditional joinery techniques. You’ll get hands-on experience with real-scale timbers.

What skills will I learn?

You will learn how to:

  • Read and understand shop drawings

  • Layout, cut, and assemble traditional timber frame joints

  • Use specialized timber framing tools

  • Work as a team on a full-scale project

How long is the course?

The training lasts 6 days in total.

Where is the course located?

The course takes place in Gatineau, QC. The workshop address is 438 Rue Saint-Louis, Gatineau, QC J8P 8B3.

How much does it cost?

The course fee is $1400 + tax.

  • Lunch is included.

  • Specialized tools will be available for participants.

Are meals included?

Yes, lunch is included each day of the training.

Do I need to bring my own tools?

A toolkit will be available for purchase if ordered prior to the course, but if you already own timber framing tools, you are welcome to bring them. Necessary tools will be available to share during the course.

What safety equipment do I need?

Please bring steel-toe shoes, safety glasses, and ear plugs and wear fitted clothing (nothing too loose) for safety in the workshop.

Who will be teaching the course?

The training is delivered by experienced timber framers who will provide hands-on guidance and supervision throughout the course.

How many participants will there be?

Spaces are limited, to ensure close supervision and hands-on learning for every participant. The class size will be minimum 10 and maximum 15 students.

What language is the course taught in?

The course will be offered in French and English, depending on the group. At least one instructor is fully bilingual.

What happens if I can’t attend after registering?

We ask that you notify us as soon as possible. Depending on the situation, your registration may be transferable to another session.
